We have been working hard on getting a new release and new features ready for you. There have been many requested features and we always try hard to make them all happen. So if your feature is not included, we may be considering it in the near future.

On to the announcement, today we are promoting the new version of Aruna Send to public beta and anyone is free to try it out… for free of course.

Here are the new features:

Free File Storage - My Files Tab
Yes, free storage that doesn’t expire (as long as you continue to use the service, you must log in every six months to keep your account active). Upload and store your files and and organize them within folders.

Sent Files History
Now you can see the history of the files you have sent to people through Aruna Send. Easily re-send files that were sent before (assuming they are within their expiry)

Extended Aruna Send file expiry
Logged in users sent files now have a 14 day expiry period (instead of 7 days for the free version). In addition there is a new “Copy to Storage” feature where you can copy any of your sent files over to your file storage area. This means you can keep those files and re-send them as many times as you wish.

Increased Aruna Send File sizes – Now send files up to 150 MB

Sharing
You can also easily share files that are in your online storage with the provided links to easily post on the web, forums etc.

Open ID
To use the new features of Aruna Send you must have an Open ID. Open ID will let you log into many websites with one ID.

More robust back end and storage infrastructure - We will write more about this later

We have updated the Aruna Send Yahoo Widget. The changes are as follows:

- Added ability so send a message to the recipient
- Added French, Swedish, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese localizations
- Extended the file drag and drop area
- Fixed UTF-8 encoding bug
- Improved memory usage

If you already have the Aruna Send Yahoo Widget, you should be asked to update when you check for updates.

If you are not familiar with the Aruna Send Widget, it is a super convenient way to send files. It sits on your desktop (both Mac and Win) in the background and whenever you want to send a file, just drag and drop it on the widget, enter an email address you want to send to and click send.

Today we are making Aruna Send available to the 25 Million + Facebook users out there. Now you can send large files for free, directly from Facebook.

This first release will allow you to send a 100MB file to anyone for free from inside Facebook. There are many more features planned and we have started to work on some of them already.

To add Aruna Send Facebook Application:

1. Log into Facebook
2. Click the + Facebook button below to go to the Aruna Send application
3. Click on Add Application

Recently, Google has changed their Personalized homepage over to the new iGoogle name. Many of us have been using Personalized homepage from google to view our news and customize our online life and info.

For those iGoogle users out there, now you can send files for free with Aruna Send from your iGoogle (or Google personalized homepage).

It is easy here is what you need to do:
1. Sign-in to your iGoogle page (or sign up if you don’t have an account. You can get an account here)
2. Goto this link.
3. Click the button there to add the Aruna Send gadget

That’s it!!

And of course you can still send files from the web, from the firefox extension and from Yahoo widgets.

In our mission to make applications that are easy and convenient to use, it was only a matter of time before we start to offer other methods to access Aruna Send (other than the web). Today is the first public beta release of the Aruna Send Yahoo! Widget. If you don’t know about Widgets yet, they are handy mini applications that can easily be accessed at any time on your desktop. There is a good article that gives an overview of the major widget platforms available today.

For the first Aruna Send widget, we have chosen the Yahoo! widget platform. They have over 4000 widgets available now and all of them work cross platform on both Mac OS X and Windows. That was a major plus for us in the decision on where to develop first.

The aim of the widget is to make it as easy as possible for you to send files. For those who already are running widgets, just download the Aruna Send Widget and you can upload files and send them to whoever you wish. Your recipient will have 7 days to collect the file (this 7 day period may go up or down after the beta period). The widget itself does not expire but we will have future versions and updates that you will want to watch for periodically. No sign up or account is necessary to use the service.

For those who don’t have Yahoo! Widgets installed, it is easy.

1. Go over to http://widgets.yahoo.com and click on the Install button. The widget application will be installed.
2. Then download the Aruna Send widget. Just double click on the file ArunaSend.widget and it will be installed and you are ready to go.

The process is the same on both Mac and PC.

We will be putting the widget up on a Aruna Widgets project page soon. In the meantime, Aruna Send Widget is available immediately below. By downloading it you will be able to see what your recipient will see when they collect the files that you send them.
