On to the announcement, today we are promoting the new version of Aruna Send to public beta and anyone is free to try it out… for free of course.

Here are the new features:

Free File Storage - My Files Tab
Yes, free storage that doesn’t expire (as long as you continue to use the service, you must log in every six months to keep your account active). Upload and store your files and and organize them within folders.

Sent Files History
Now you can see the history of the files you have sent to people through Aruna Send. Easily re-send files that were sent before (assuming they are within their expiry)

Extended Aruna Send file expiry
Logged in users sent files now have a 14 day expiry period (instead of 7 days for the free version). In addition there is a new “Copy to Storage” feature where you can copy any of your sent files over to your file storage area. This means you can keep those files and re-send them as many times as you wish.

Increased Aruna Send File sizes – Now send files up to 150 MB

Sharing
You can also easily share files that are in your online storage with the provided links to easily post on the web, forums etc.

Open ID
To use the new features of Aruna Send you must have an Open ID. Open ID will let you log into many websites with one ID.

More robust back end and storage infrastructure - We will write more about this later

If you are not familiar with the Aruna Send Widget, it is a super convenient way to send files. It sits on your desktop (both Mac and Win) in the background and whenever you want to send a file, just drag and drop it on the widget, enter an email address you want to send to and click send.

Originally, we found that clients and companies using Aruna IM needed to have employees inside their company chatting in a secure manor. That has been solved by Aruna IM and has helped communication and efficiencies within the company. Aruna IM will allow you to create and send a web link to your conference participants, which will direct them to a web page to chat to you and the conference members. The web chat also logs into your history to the server for compliance and regulatory reasons so your legal and compliance departments can remain happy! There is a even a file sharing capability so you can share files internally AND externally during your conferences and chat sessions.

We will be adding more languages to the service on an ongoing basis. To get the languages, you don’t have to do anything. If your browser’s main language is set to French for example, you will see Aruna eMail in French. The same applies to the other languages.

Right now there is a limit to sending to ten Facebook friends at a time. This unfortunately is a limit of the Facebook platform.

We will be making further improvements to the Aruna Send “Send Files” for Facebook in the near future. If you have any suggestions for features or improvements please let us know at support @ arunalabs.com.

This first release will allow you to send a 100MB file to anyone for free from inside Facebook. There are many more features planned and we have started to work on some of them already.

The big news in the last couple of weeks was the opening up of their platform and technology. Now applications can be integrated with Facebook and we are here to offer the new Aruna URL Facebook application.

Current Features

Aruna URL Facebook app is there for when you are using facebook and want to make a short link / URL. Maybe you have a long link that is unwieldy that you would like to share, email or message to your friends or co-workers. Aruna URL will be standing by right inside of facebook for you to make that short link.

First, the data on your Aruna email is on a redundant disk array. If drives fail then the other ones take over and nothing is lost. In addition to this, we make sure your Aruna email data is backed up twice daily to a secondary source inside the same datacenter. Lastly, we do daily off-site backups to our servers in a datacenter that is physically separated to the main Aruna servers. Of course this data is first encrypted before being sent over to our other datacenter.

We just want to make sure you are aware that we are ready for the worst case scenario and / or disasters. No matter what happens we will make sure your corporate email data is kept safe, secure and available to you.
