Aruna Send New Version and Public Beta Now Live

Thursday, August 30th, 2007

We have been working hard on getting a new release and new features ready for you. There have been many requested features and we always try hard to make them all happen. So if your feature is not included, we may be considering it in the near future.

On to the announcement, today we are promoting the new version of Aruna Send to public beta and anyone is free to try it out… for free of course.

Here are the new features:

Free File Storage – My Files Tab
Yes, free storage that doesn’t expire (as long as you continue to use the service, you must log in every six months to keep your account active). Upload and store your files and and organize them within folders.

Sent Files History
Now you can see the history of the files you have sent to people through Aruna Send. Easily re-send files that were sent before (assuming they are within their expiry)

Extended Aruna Send file expiry
Logged in users sent files now have a 14 day expiry period (instead of 7 days for the free version). In addition there is a new “Copy to Storage” feature where you can copy any of your sent files over to your file storage area. This means you can keep those files and re-send them as many times as you wish.

Increased Aruna Send File sizes – Now send files up to 150 MB

Sharing
You can also easily share files that are in your online storage with the provided links to easily post on the web, forums etc.

Open ID
To use the new features of Aruna Send you must have an Open ID. Open ID will let you log into many websites with one ID.

More robust back end and storage infrastructure – We will write more about this later

So without further ado, here is the link to try out the new Aruna Send Beta with FREE file storage.

New Aruna IM Release – Web Conferencing

Friday, August 17th, 2007

Today we are releasing the next version of Aruna IM. The development team has been working hard to make many small improvements and it shows. Things are working very well and we are happy to introduce a major new feature. Web Conferencing.

Originally, we found that clients and companies using Aruna IM needed to have employees inside their company chatting in a secure manor. That has been solved by Aruna IM and has helped communication and efficiencies within the company. But what to do if you want to chat with a client, a vendor, a temp, a consultant, a supplier or any other third party? You don’t really want to provision an ID on the system for them for both security and management reasons. How do you chat with them easily?

Or what if you want to have a group chat and share some files with a few people involved on a disparate project team? Some people are inside the company and some are in USA and some in Europe, what to do now?

Aruna IM will allow you to create and send a web link to your conference participants, which will direct them to a web page to chat to you and the conference members. It can also be password protected for privacy if you like. And as with the regular Aruna IM, your chat sessions are always secure and encrypted.

The web chat also logs into your history to the server for compliance and regulatory reasons so your legal and compliance departments can remain happy! There is a even a file sharing capability so you can share files internally AND externally during your conferences and chat sessions.

If your company is looking for a corporate instant messaging solution that is secure BOTH inside and outside your company, let us introduce you to Aruna IM.

(Existing customers will be upgraded to the new version automatically)

Aruna Labs Releases Two Zimlets for Zimbra Collaboration Suite

Thursday, May 3rd, 2007

On the back of our release of the Aruna Send Widget for Yahoo Widgets, we are glad today to spread our wings a little further. In order to enable our other services to be more closely integrated with Aruna email, we have developed two plug-ins (Zimlets) that will allow customers to use the following services directly from Aruna email in their browser.

1. Aruna Send Zimlet – Will allow users to send large files directly from their webmail in their browser. It is free, there is no sign up and it will allow you to send up to 100MB files.

About Aruna Send Zimlet

2. Aruna URL Zimlet – You can convert long and unwieldy web links (URLs) into short easy URLs from the Zimlet or directly inside of emails by right clicking on any link.

Aruna URL Zimlet

We are also releasing the Zimlets to the community of 6 million other Zimbra users. The services that the Zimlets offer will be free and there will be no charge for the Zimlets themselves. Zimbra uses must contact their Zimbra email server administrator and ask them to install the Zimlets.

We are currently getting the project page and documentation ready. In the meantime, both Aruna Send and Aruna URL Zimlets are available for download immediately below.

We have also set up a forum where the community can make suggestions, report bugs and discuss the Zimlets. We will post the address to that very soon as well.

Download Aruna Send Zimlet Now!

Note: Both Zimlets are still considered beta software. We have tested them, they are working and we have not found any major bugs on our ZCS environments. You should also test them in your configuration before deciding whether to enable them in your live production environment.

We see a great opportunity to help serve businesses with great solutions that help them to run their businesses without the hassle. What do we mean “no hassle”? That lets our customers not have to worry about building and managing technology, they can just focus on their core business.
